Engineered Base Preparation
Every patio installation starts below the surface. We excavate to the proper depth (typically 8-12 inches depending on soil), install a compacted aggregate base in 2-3 inch lifts, and ensure proper slope for water runoff. Base failure is the #1 cause of patio problems — settling, shifting, and paver movement all trace back to improper base prep. Doing it right the first time costs the same as doing it wrong.
Precision Grading & Drainage
Water is the enemy of every hardscape project. Improper drainage causes settling, undermines base material, and creates standing water that freezes and heaves pavers. We grade every patio to direct water away from structures, coordinate with existing drainage, and install subsurface drains where needed. The goal: water moves off your patio and away from your foundation — not into your basement or under your pavers.
Paver Installation to Manufacturer Standards
We're a Cambridge Paver-certified installer following ICPI installation standards. Pavers are set on screeded bedding sand, joints filled with polymeric sand (swept, compacted, and activated properly), and edges restrained with concrete bond beam. Cutting is done with professional masonry saws — no chipped edges, no eyeballed measurements.
